All MAYA SAPANA Cashmere shawls are hand-loomed by local artisans using traditional looming techniques. They are soft and comfortable.

Hand-dyed with Swiss AZO-free dyes, MAYA SAPANA Cashmere shawls display deep and vibrant colors. The secret is simple. Each yarn is thoroughly dyed with the traditional multiple dipping technique.

IT’S ALL ABOUT FIBER WHEN IT COMES TO CASHMERE

MAYA SAPANA shawl is not an ordinary Cashmere shawl. They come from the inner hair of high mountain goats inhabiting the Himalayan range, over 4000m above sea level. In order to survive in such a harsh environment, the goats develop dual structured coats- thick outer hair called ‘guard hair’ and buttery soft inner hair called ‘Cashmere wool’. Cashmere wool is highly prestigious as each goat can only produce 5.3 OZ (150gm) per year.

All MAYA SAPANA products have original serial numbers and hand-written cards indicating the year of manufacture, size, and composition of the fabric.
